PPlanter is a rapidly deployable, reconfigurable public urinal and sink that uses modular biofilters to treat urine and wastewater. The network of sensors for automated monitoring and this web site are an integral part for public feedback and participation in the design of future iterations. PPlanter 1.0 was built with all volunteer labor on a shoe-string budget of just $2000. The project was made possible through a $1500 grant from the San Francisco Urban Prototyping Festival, donated services from the TechShop, and donated materials from the Hyphae Design Laboratory.
